Tuesday 11th March

I was up before the alarm and went on-line before going downstairs for breakfast. Rosa when she woke up was chatty and alert. After Rosa had her breakfast I let her doze for a bit at her request. I was then about to get her up and on the commode when the District Nurse arrived to redress her legs. The legs aren’t actually too bad at the moment but Rosa has a habit of scratching them and this causes problems so having them bandaged up prevents problems. It would have been nice if the nurse had checked her notes as she kept calling Rosa Mrs Lee. I quietly told the nurse that Rosa prefers to be called Rosa and that she is actually Miss Lee.

I continued do some extra cleaning and I am defrosting the little freezer. I try to do one or two extra things a day as not much housework has been done here. I can understand as carers change every two weeks and it is easy to get away with just doing the basic stuff.

Kelly arrived at 11.45 am and we chat briefly before I go out. I drove to Dorney Reach where there is a telephone box library. I leave a few books and take one book. I then go to Waitrose to do the shopping. A bigger list today as I have a better idea of what is needed. Last week I just bought what was on the list that Sue the previous carer had left for me. There were a few items that ideally should have been on that list and wasn’t as I ran out of tin foil, clingfilm, onions and potatoes.

I went back to the house and unpacked the groceries I was hungry by this time so I had lunch and a coffee. I then went out for a walk and went to Burchells Green where I found a cache that was in a fake snail. The telephone box had a defibrillator in it. I thought that there was supposed to be another telephone box but couldn’t find it and a local said that there was only the one telephone box.

Rather than walk back the same way I continued walking and I found a second fake snail cache. There is a series of them here. I then walked back to the house via a garage where I bought myself an ice-cream. Back at the house I had another coffee and also had time to read before Kelly was due to finish.

Kelly had Rosa washed and in bed and I then prepared supper. I had my supper and cleaned up downstairs. Kelly had done the ironing for me as she was bored because Rosa had dozed most of the afternoon. I said goodnight to Rosa and turned her light out.

I did the usual on-line stuff before going to bed and reading.
